ICT as Tools for Empowerment: A Women Connect Regional Event. Wednesday 3rd December 2003
‘Opened up new horizons of what is possible…’ that’s a taste of the feed back from the December workshop at Foleshill Women’s Training Centre in Coventry. Over 20 women from a range of organisations including the community, voluntary and public sector were jam packed into the training rooms for a dynamic day of tips and activities around technology and how we can use it to support our work and our organisations.
This one day event looked at how women’s organisations are and could be using information and communication technology (ICT) to sustain their work, challenge inequality and bring about social change. We were pleased to see Women Connect partners Peterborough Women’s Centre, Nottingham Women’s Counselling Project, Bhagini Women’s Centre and Foleshill Training Centre at the event.
Throughout the day participants explored various techniques for effective use of ICTs including web publishing, blogging, case studies and sourcing information. Thanks to our facilitators for the day - Women Connect partner Natasha Johnson-Richards Project manager for CU-ICT www.cuict.org.uk and Maud Hand freelance multimedia producer, broadcaster and writer.
